The Annoying List

Ripped a few off 8 Days (Issue No. 986):

1. Cartoons that make us feel. Like the annoyingly good Pixar hit, UP, which recently stopped its run in Singapore. Instead of fun eye candy, we ended up trying to hold back tears, reassessing plans for their twilight years, and pondering the meaning of life.
2. SMS-ing in cinemas. We know it is on vibrate mode, but thanks to the rise of the iPhone, handphone screens these days are beacons of big bright lights. And that beam from your Blackberry (oops) in a pitch dark hall is as loud as your 'Nobody' ringtone.
3. Decisive friends who pretend to be indecisive. They ask you to choose the restaurant, then reject all your suggestions. If you want control, don't try to look accommodating.
   
4. The queues for the bathrooms at the Butter Factory. Too many weekends have been marred by our having to wait in line for the four-cubicle ladies toilet. Even the guys' queue snakes outside the bathroom, which is almost unheard of. When we plead with Butter Factory to construct more toilets, they tell us they are not in charge of the bathrooms in One Fullerton and so their hands are tied. Guess we'll have to stop ordering drinks.
5. Salesgirls. Those that shadow you (we will call you over if we need help) then rearrange the stuff you have touched the minute you walk away (sorry, should we wear gloves next time?)
   
6. People who stop suddenly mid-stride to answer their mobile and block everyone behind them. Hello, it's called a mobile phone. So get mobile.

Trip Afterthoughts...

this has been a truly relaxing hOliday. temple visits were left tO the mOrnings with lunches taken back in the tOwn centre. we even had time fOr afternOOn tv/dvd sessiOns Or naps. dinners were mainly alOng pub street fOllOwed by a shOrt shOpping spree at the night market. the pub street restaurants are very, very gOOd! be it western, khmer, Or mexican cuisines, the taste and quality kept us craving fOr mOre. i am salivating as i recall the delectable fOOd we have had the chance to try. i dOn't usually give such raving reviews but if yOu are thinking Of making a trip tO siem reap, dO nOte tO visit these restaurants - khmer family restaurant, khmer kitchen, red pianO restaurant, i viva mexican restaurant... dO lOOk Out fOr happy hOur Offers fOr their draft angkOr beer as well! Oh, dining at night fOr me was an uncOmfOrtable experience. i had tO keep reminding myself tO fOcus On the fOOd instead Of the dOzens Of lizards On the walls and ceilings... eeeks! thank gOd the fOOd was fabulOus!

abOut the attractiOns... frankly speaking, i was left disappOinted by angkOr wat. it was huge but architecturally, i just wasn't bOwled Over. the site that i lOved the mOst thOugh was bayOn. impOsing faces lOOking dOwn upOn yOu, set against the clear blue sky. lOvely! we have gOt tO be truly thankful fOr the sun-filled days after all thOse fOrecasts Of thunderstOrms. the weatherman can be sO wrOng indeed!

all in all, it wOuld have been a really great trip if nOt fOr the stOlen camera battery charger. Of all things! i understand that the cambOdian peOple lead hard lives, but stOOping tO theft...

I Passed!

i made an instant annOuncement On facebOok when i stepped Out Of the exam venue. can't describe the relief and exhilaratiOn.

the prOblem with me is that i take things tOO seriOusly. there's nOthing inherently wrOng with that, but the expectatiOns just magnify the emOtiOns. i knew there was a high chance Of failing... explained the nerves and faint heart palpitatiOns. i knew i answered everything tO the best Of my abilities and bOy was i thrilled tO see "PASS (Scoreband: 80-100)" printed On the certificate. a mOrale bOOster. but nOw that i think abOut it, despite it being a victOry, it's still Of nO use fOr my career. bummer.

About Studying...

this weekend had been dedicated tO last minute mugging fOr CMFAS mOdule 4A. i have always been a prOcrastinatOr when it came tO my studies and it's nO different this time. the variOus terminOlOgies, %, threshOlds, etc are seriOusly giving me a headache in spite Of the fact that i have prObably spent mOre time sleeping than actually gOing thrOugh the text. my mind is nOw rejecting a revisiOn sessiOn but i am nervOus abOut hOw much have actually been registered thus far. Oh bOy, i absOlutely dO nOt want tO fail and have tO repeat this prOcess again!

Unlimited Data Plan

this is particularly fabulOus as i dOn't have my Own persOnal cOmputer at hOme. i can nOw get cOmfOrtable in bed while chatting away On msn and/Or BB messenger. surfing the internet and checking facebOOk is a breeze as well, never mind the slOw dOwnlOading speed and restrictiOns. it's a bOnus when all this cOmes fOr free. well, almOst. i just need a taste Of replying tO emails while hOlidaying... we'll see.

Beach Retreat @ Sentosa

pleasant weather fOr a beach retreat! breezy and sunny, althOugh the rays were nOt pOwerful enOugh tO give us a gOrgeOus tan. we shOuld dO this again! pretty therapeutic!

Marital Bliss

this is the 3rd wedding that i have attended. the first videO mOntage was fantastic, shOwing grOwing up phOtOs Of grOOm and bride, and then thOse Of them as a cOuple. i guess the emOtiOns i felt were strOnger and deeper as they have been tOgether fOr a lOng time and i knOw mOre abOut them and their dating prOcess than the earlier weddings i have attended. i am sure thOse whO have turned up have witnessed their lOve. it's just sO sweet and heart-warming! cOngrats babe!
