I Love Singapore
i really lOve singapOre. why such a sudden declaratiOn Of lOve since natiOnal day is still a cOuple Of mOnths away? yOu wOuld knOw the reasOn if yOu have flipped the papers in recent weeks.
narrOw-mindedness is nOt new but i can't help being annOyed with singapOre bashers! in my cOllege days, i tOOk pride in speaking gOOd english. but i grew tO adOre singlish. it is such a beautiful mix Of languages and dialects! that said, peOple shOuld still have the cOmmOn sense tO apply it at the apprOpriate times. i wOuldn't use the usual dOse Of lah and leh when cOnversing with my expat cOlleagues fOr sure. tO criticise that we speak funny just shOws that yOu singapOre bashers have nOt shOwn respect tO Our lOcal cultures. whO dOesn't speak with an accent? is yOurs mOre superiOr?
all Of us abhOr pOOr sOcial graces. frOm my travel experiences, i dare say that singapOreans are still standing at the bOttOm Of the 'ungraciOus' table. granted, there will always be ill-mannered peOple cOntinuing tO disgust us with their actiOns. dO realise that many are fOreigners wOrking/studying in singapOre. we have absOlutely nO cOntrOl Of that and therefOre shOuld nOt be held respOnsible.
and tO say that Our freedOm has been sacrificed? what is wrOng with pOlitical stability? i lOve being able tO hang Out at night withOut having tO wOrry abOut my safety. i lOve this clean and green cOncrete jungle. i lOve Our relatively well-maintained public transpOrt system. i lOve the smOke-free clubs and pubs. i lOve the cOmpulsOry catalytic cOnverters!

Boycott St James!
the dancing spell was casted On me a mOnth agO. what better OppOrtunity tO party than just befOre a lOng weekend? we shOrtlisted a number Of clubs but settled On st james sO that we can finally check Out dragOnfly and club-hOp within the same cOmpOund if it's nOt tO Our liking. nOtwithstanding, tragedy still struck. we started clOse tO 11pm @ dragOnfly. stOOd arOund awkwardly since the live band did nOt bring us tO a high. Off we went tO pOwerhOuse. managed tO dance fOr a while befOre bOredOm revisited. the bOiler rOOm was up next but we were in and Out under 5mins since the crOwd was Only grOOving by their tables. bOring... we lOitered thrOugh the lObby and ended up back in pOwerhOuse. Our party mOOd was pretty subdued by then. chilled Outside till late befOre heading back. tsk. nOt enOugh dancing, nOt enOugh fun!
