Triple B

the rising cOst Of living is evident everywhere. mOre expensive meals, public transpOrt, hOusing, petrOl, clOthes, tOur packages... and given the ingenuity Of men, inflatiOn can manifest itself in mOre ways than One.

imagine the unpleasant surprise that registered On my face when the 'naked gun' burger i Ordered fOr dinner @ billy bOmbers came withOut the usual serving Of chunky fries! utter devastatiOn! imagine hOw pathetic my dinner lOOked. a single medium-well beef burger with cheese placed On a big and Otherwise empty plate. my wOrld stOpped revOlving fOr a minute. a heart-shattering experience.

i felt sO cheated. when did they change the blOOdy menu? it's time tO cOnsider drastic measures - bOycOtt billy bOmbers.

$9 Haircut

it was such a stressful experience... i used tO gO fOr free haircuts at reputable hairdressing academies. every 3 Or 4 mOnths i wOuld face the dilemma Of which hair salOn tO patrOnise. as i was arOund the area tOday, i hOpped in tO this academy at funan IT mall. well, i had tO pay $9 fOr a student haircut. i didn't have high expectatiOns and i wasn't Overly wOrried as the supervising stylist will usually step in tOwards the end Of the sessiOn tO make sure that we dOn't walk Out with "funky" hairstyles.

i was served by a nOt-sO-yOung student. when she started parting my hair like a true blue newbie, my alarm bells started ringing. it was painful watching her snip my hair. sOmewhat unsure. leisurely measuring the lengths. left then right. maybe she's sO used tO snipping hair Off mannequins that at times she seemed tO have fOrgOtten that nOrmal peOple dO nOt enjOy having wet hair cOvering their faces. she was taking fOrever. i was mOnitOring her every actiOn that was within sight, ready tO wrestle that pair Of scissOrs frOm her hand if anything shOuld gO wrOng. i'm glad i didn't have tO.

the nightmare ended just when my threshOld was abOut tO be breached. i didn't realise that i was hOlding my breath. the supervising stylist prObably nOticed and came Over tO finish the cut. i was Out Of there in a jiffy.

I Can't Stop The Music...

it was such a fabulOusly wild friday night!

i was reminded Of thOse gOOd Old clubbing days. back then, it was impOssible tO resist the urge tO thrOw On a party Outfit and hit the clubs. Of cOurse, back in thOse days, we Only head Out On wednesday / thursday nights when the cOver charges are waived and drinks are free. we'll have just enOugh tO drink befOre dancing the night away. tsk. nOw it's near impOssible tO have a wild night and still be able tO wake up the day after tO repOrt fOr wOrk.

anyway, i have binny & dOdO tO thank fOr the incredible cOmpany. i had much mOre fun than expected. next time, i shOuld prObably keep my alcOhOl intake in check thOugh i still feel that the Oily ramen sOup was largely tO blame fOr my merliOn mOment.

NATAS Travel Fair

as NATAS fair virgins, we anticipated a large turnOut as has always been the case with discOunts, great bargains and free gifts. and surely, when we reach 5 mins after the Original Opening time Of 10am, the queue stretched 3 halls at the expO cOnventiOn centre all the way tO the train statiOn. i wanted tO give up. nevertheless, chris jOined the hOrrendOus snaking queue and sO i fOllOwed suit.

the queue started mOving rather disOrderly. everyOne rushed fOrward and sOOn the queue was nOwhere tO be seen. we trudged fOrward and ended up cutting the Original queue. we were halfway there.

nOt bad at all, i thOught!

i'm nOt sure if it was the sheer size of the expO hall Or that the turnOut was nOt as huge as it lOOked from the queue. as we spread Out within the hall, there was ample breathing space fOr all. and surprisingly, there was nO queue. we quickly fOund Our first chOice travel agent with the best itinerary we have shOrtlisted the week befOre. there was a departure On the exact date Of chOice just that we need anOther 8 tO cOnfirm the tOur grOup. the package price + airpOrt / fuel charges were lOwer than expected but it's still the highest that we will be paying fOr a package tOur. all that mOney fOr a 9 days, 7 nights vacatiOn in japan! feeling brOke.

we decided tO pay $1000 each fOr the depOsit instead Of the usual $500 - tO be entitled tO redeem a free luggage bag. we simply had tO embrace the bargain-hunting spirit Of travel fairs! a free trOlley luggage bag, 2 fugly cushiOns frOm AIG, 1 fugly fOldable bag frOm mastercard, 1 packet milO, 1 bOttle Of green tea, travel insurance @ 40% discOunt... that's abOut it.
