Don't Mess With John!
a yOung man named jOhn received a parrOt named 'chief' as a gift. chief had a bad attitude and an even wOrse vOcabulary. every wOrd that came Out frOm its mOuth was rude, ObnOxiOus, and laced with prOfanity. jOhn tried repeatedly tO change chief's attitude by cOnsistently saying Only pOlite wOrds, playing sOft music and anything else he cOuld think Of tO clean up its vOcabulary.
finally, jOhn had enOugh and he yelled at chief. chief yelled back. jOhn shOOk chief, whO then gOt angrier and ruder. jOhn threw up his hands in resignatiOn, grabbed chief, and put him in the freezer. fOr a cOuple Of minutes, chief squawked and kicked and screamed. then came minutes Of silence. wOrried, jOhn hurriedly Opened the dOOr tO the freezer.
chief calmly stepped Out into jOhn's Outstretched arms and said,
'i believe i may have Offended yOu with my rude language and actiOns. i am sincerely remOrseful Of my inapprOpriate transgressiOns and i fully intend tO dO everything i can tO cOrrect my rude and unfOrgivable behaviOur.'
jOhn was stunned by the change in chief's attitude and was abOut tO ask chief the reasOn fOr his dramatic transfOrmatiOn when chief cOntinued,
'may i ask what the turkey did?'

Gucci Surprise
christmas came early this year...
instead Of seeing that sparkle in my eyes, he was greeted by my fiery gaze. he gOt an earful frOm me alright. why?

the abOve thOught was cOnstantly in my head thrOughOut my vacatiOn in sydney. there were 25 Of us in the tOur grOup and i dare say, with the exceptiOn Of the 6 Of us and a middle-aged cOuple, the remaining tOur mates were simply a disgrace. fugly singapOreans. the species that we, being the classy and civilised grOup Of singapOreans, wOuld like tO eradicate in the hOpe Of getting us just a step clOser tO being a graciOus sOciety. after what we have witnessed, perhaps we have nOt prOgressed that much since independence?
in the gOOd Old schOOl days, nature versus nurture was such a hOt tOpic fOr cOmpOsitiOns / essays. i believe that gOOd manners / etiquette must be nurtured. parents shOuld set gOOd examples. teachers shOuld be gOOd rOle mOdels. and hOpefully, as each individual mOves alOng, he /she wOuld pick up the right behaviOur alOng the way.
having been immersed in the cOrpOrate wOrld, i'm Often surrOunded by pretty decent and well-grOOmed peOple. even the cleaning aunty is pleasantly pOlite - nO clenched teeth and nO wringing Of neck sO lOng as she dOesn't sing in the pantry while i wOrk the keybOard. ObviOusly, my family and friends fall intO the preferred categOry. ah... which prObably explains the shOck and disgust when we met thOse ill-behaved families OOzing kiasu-ism and selfishness. i can't believe such peOple still exist! fellOw cOuntrymen nO less!
