Hello Japan!

this trip tO japan really is a lOng-awaited break fOr me.

the past cOuple Of mOnths have been intense. the energy-drain frOm wOrk, the pOOr health, the insOmnia, the perpetual leave cOverage, the distress frOm my RM's resignatiOn... i dO need sOme time away frOm wOrk that is nOt assOciated with cOmpany cOurses and medical leave.

sO, i am nOw 90% packed fOr the trip! wOOhOO!

just jeans, tank tOps, a jacket and cOat... pretty fuss-free i say!

unlike the past few trips, i'm packing in a better stOcked makeup kit. hey, it's japan after all! i need tO leave my pale, bOring self at hOme and dOll up fOr the great pics despite having a face scarred frOm the recent breakOut. in additiOn, i've had tO cOnvince myself that black hair is fine. i absOlutely have nO time fOr my usual DIY dye jObs. i hOpe i've nOt left anything Out...

i was sO anticipating galleries filled with teddy bears frOm arOund the wOrld. sOmething akin tO the famOus teddy bear museum in jeju, sOuth kOrea, but On a smaller scale. it was small all right. just a rOOm dedicated tO this exhibitiOn Of nOt sO cuddly teddies. they are a pretty bunch. all decked Out in feathers, clOthes, flOwers, jewellery... we cOuld have gOtten Out Of the arts hOuse in ten minutes flat if it wasn't fOr the queue tO snap sOme phOtOs fOr keeps.

i am simply bOwled Over by Obama's charisma and elOquence. i was rOOting fOr him and i'm glad he has emerged victOriOus. nOt Only did he win, it was a landslide victOry. i must say that his speeches are inspiratiOnal and impactful. brainy guys are just sO sexy!

the fun started at jO's place. i was excited and wOrried as i dOn't experiment with makeup. i had tO start with cOncealer and fOundatiOn all Over again due tO a disaster invOlving prickly heat - let's nOt gO intO that. having an OngOing breakOut is a spOiler as well, as nO amOunt Of makeup can mask the gigantic bumps On my face! sigh. whatever. tiny pieces Of scOtchtape were stuck On my eyelids tO create fake bambi eyes - yes, i knOw it wasn't even clOse. what's impOrtant is that my eyes became bigger in an instant! the liquid eyeliner went On next and at One pOint in time i felt devastated. i resembled jack sparrOw (johnny depp) frOm the pirates Of the caribbean. yes, i knOw it's hallOween... we want tO be glam nOnetheless!

thank gOd my eyes turned Out well.

pink blusher went On Our cheeks and the finishing tOuch was the lipstick and bOy dO i lOOk like a dOll! a pimply dOll. the whOle makeup really upped my spirits and i had nO prOblems getting intO character. i'm just sO annOyingly funny but this is whO i am. eccentric evan.

jO achieved her chinese ghOst lOOk while gera tOOk a while tO cOnvince herself that she's a cheetah (nOt cat, Or mOuse) named leO-pard. thOugh she was a cOnfused animal that night, she really is the epitOmy Of cOOl. i sO wish i can carry Off clOthes with such style. sOme peOple just have that X-factOr. she's sO cOOl that she did my crazy dOll hair and jO's deranged vengeful chinese ghOst's hairstyle in minutes. we left jO's place a quarter tO midnight.

managed tO hail a cab withOut much difficulty and scOOted dOwn to st james. we had to queue everywhere but we didn't mind as we were busy chatting, taking phOtOs and checking Out Other party-gOers' Outfits. mOstly uninteresting. the club was packed when we finally gOt in. the crOwd was stiff and the music really sucked big time. every single time yOu get intO the grOOve, the tempO slOwed. i mean, hOw dO yOu dance like that?! i miss zOuk sO much. i knOw it's the cOmpany that cOunts. i had a great time but imagine hOw much better it wOuld have been with fantastic nOn-stOp music?!

we partied with twO different grOups Of peOple that night. the yOung bunch we bumped intO On pOwerhOuse's danceflOOr and a grOup Of lame japanese dudes at firefly's bar. we were entertained all right. the night ended abOut half-past fOur when we left the club and i knew i'm sO gOing tO miss lOla. my persOna fOr hallOween 2008.
